v2.0.0 Beta - The <Suspense> is Over

I know you all probably weren’t expecting this announcement next. But after reviewing the roadmap, we spent so long iterating in the Experimental phase, most of the goalposts within Alpha don’t appear relevant enough to warrant their own phase. Instead, I’m happy to announce today that Solid 2.0 effort enters the beta stage. There will be bugs and rough edges we need to work through with the ecosystem. The focus will be on building documentation, and strategies for migration while we work through extending 2.0 into the wider ecosystem.

I don’t care about your database benchmarks (and neither should you)

The Convex team has designed and operated database systems that scaled to millions of requests per second. We’ve cared about which AVX instruction sets CPUs supported, which hardware caching layers could buffer writes, how to hide latency in application-specific ways, and all the other performance tricks that eventually matter. I’m confident we can pull off any move our competitors can.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if they can pull off any move we can as well. There are great database engineers working at all these companies.

Drizzle joins PlanetScale

I am excited to announce that the Drizzle team is joining PlanetScale to continue their mission of building the best database tools for JavaScript and TypeScript. Drizzle’s ORM has risen to become the default thanks to the team’s obsession with performance and developer experience, two things PlanetScale also obsesses over. The alignment is clear.
